Jay R. Tomerlin

Jay is a life long resident of Madison County Illinois. After his graduation from St. Louis University School of Law in 1988, Jay worked as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Madison County Illinois. He also worked at Tomerlin Bookkeeping Service, Inc. as an income tax preparer and tax-planning consultant where he continues to prepare taxes today. Jay has also been in private practice since 1988 where he has been engaged in the general practice of law. He has represented clients in various legal matters, including, but not limited to; criminal law, family law, estate planning, tax planning and preparation, personal injury, wrongful death and survival action, class action litigation, business formations, shareholder dispute litigation, real estate, and landlord- tenant matters. Currently, his primary focus and practice areas include wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and probate, as well as individual, corporate, partnership and fiduciary tax planning and preparation. Jay is available to refer clients to other qualified and competent attorneys for areas in which he does not actively practice. Jay and his wife Patty have one son, Brian Tomerlin, who is married to Mary Tomerlin, and they live in St. Louis, Missouri.
